Ground Breaking Ceremony

The Groundbreaking Ceremony for Durham Educaton Center was successfully held on Tuesday, February 8 2018. The event was well-attended by current and past students of the DEC/ABLE/TTOA/HUB programs, as well as staff members from the school and District Office. 

Also in attendance were members of the TTSD School Board, the Project Architects - BORA Architects, and the General Contractor - TS Gray.

Superintendent Ernie Brown shared a presentation on the history of the Durham Education Center programs detailing the years of growth, physical relocations and partnerships that have propelled the school. He also presented architectural renderings and details on the project's Net Zero Green Building design.

Following Superintendent Brown's remarks, Ground was officially broken by the following group of honored attendees:

  • Chris Linn – Principal Architect, BORA Architects
  • Bob Gray – Owner / Estimator, TS Gray
  • Mike DiPasquale - Project Manager, DAY CPM
  • Christopher Woo – Bond Oversight Committee, Project Liaison
  • Terri Burnette – Board Member, Project Liaison
  • Karen Emerson – Board Member, Project Liaison
  • Andrew Mcfarlane – DEC Program Administrator
  • Ernie Brown - Superintendent
  • Students from the current DEC Program
