Two-Way Immersion (TWI)

Students sit in the foreground of a classroom while a teacher stands at a podium in front of a whiteboard filled with notes.
A teacher helps a young boy with a book in the foreground of a busy classroom filled with other students and cabinets in the background.
A teacher leans over a table to help young students with their work in a classroom filled with backpacks and cubbies.
Several teenage boys sit at desks in a classroom, with a large world map and colorful banners on the wall behind them.
A young girl in a tie-dye shirt focuses on her work at a desk in a blurred classroom setting with other children.

Our Two-Way Immersion (TWI) Program acts on our district mission to “Educate Every Child” by fostering our students’ multilingual skills and multicultural connections. We develop linguistic and cultural knowledge so that students can be empathetic multilingual leaders of change in their communities and the world.

Why Dual Language?

Dual language programs offer our students a language-rich learning experience in Spanish and English.

Dual language celebrates our linguistic and cultural diversity in TTSD. To learn more about what dual language is and why we support it in TTSD, check out this description from the Center for Applied Linguistics or this article by Conor Willams.

The Oregon State Seal of Biliteracy

Our goal is for our students to graduate with advanced levels of biliteracy required for the Oregon State Seal of Biliteracy.

To learn more about the Oregon State Seal of Biliteracy, consult the Oregon Department of Education's description.
