Principal Welcome Letter
-
Welcome to Hazelbrook Middle School!
It is my distinct honor and privilege to serve as the principal at Hazelbrook Middle School. I’m
amazed at the diverse, rich and talented people that make up not only our city, but also our
school and our student body. Our community is great because of the diverse strengths our
students and families have to offer.Having served as the Associate Principal at Hazelbrook and previously at other middle schools
as both and administrator and a teacher, I can attest to the fact that middle school is the place
to be! The daily joys, celebrations and challenges that come in working with students who are
working through significant changes in who they are and who they want to be is invigorating and
refreshing. Here at Hazelbrook, we work continually to understand how these changes impact the ups and
downs of adolescent life and work to put the concept of care at the forefront of our work. First
and foremost, our school works to be a place where all students feel safe and honored for who
they are, not who others think they should be. Striving to do this is our never-ending goal as we
work to eliminate judgment and hate from our community.
We’re also proud to be an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school, where we
begin to prepare a college-bound mindset look forward to preparing students for thousands of
post-high school opportunities. We do this by maintaining high expectations for all of our
students within a caring school community and using learning strategies to support the learning
of all of our students.Ultimately, we, at Hazelbrook, have an amazingly caring staff and student body. We’re a great
place that continues to look for ways to be even greater. We welcome you and look forward to
meeting you!
Sincerely,
Tim Gross, Principal
