Message from the Principal
Deer Creek Family:
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jarvis Gomes and I have been in education for 20 years. My last 14 years have been as an Associate Principal at Tualatin High School. I am excited to be able to join the Deer Creek Elementary family. I see change as an opportunity for growth and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.
I have had a passion for education ever since the third grade. It was my third grade teacher Miss Mercer who gave me a love for mathematics and I knew from the age of eight that I wanted to be a teacher. I attended Linfield College and started my career as a high school math teacher. I have served in many roles over the years but my dedication to and love for education have not wavered during those years and I promise to bring this devotion to Deer Creek Elementary.
On a personal note, I am married with two children. My wife Leah is a third grade teacher in McMinnville, my daughter Emma is a sophomore in high school, and my son Kaden is in eighth grade. In my spare time I enjoy outdoor activities and athletics. Baseball is a particular passion of mine.
I have had the pleasure of working with students that are the product of Deer Creek Elementary in the course of my job at the high school. I am looking forward to now being a part of their earlier education by serving students, staff and family at Deer Creek Elementary.
