Resources for Addressing Tragedies in the News
Challenging situations can arise unexpectedly during the school year, and discussions can help students understand and cope with the social and emotional impacts of these events. Situations might be school-based (such as violence in the school or the death of a student or other member of the school community), violence or trauma in the students’ home or neighborhood environments, natural disasters, or significant events on the news. Sometimes, we see things on the news or we hear about things happening that can make us worry.
Please find the following resources to help address needs when tragedies occur. Please feel free to connect with your counselors, members of our equity and inclusion department for more support or to connect you with other supports within our district.
