Become a Board Member
How to become a School Board Member for TTSD
What does the school board do?
The board’s major responsibility is setting the Tigard-Tualatin District policies. The board has one employee, the superintendent, who in turn hires staff. Board members must also:
- Establish and adopt the Tigard-Tualatin School District budget.
- Approve Tigard-Tualatin School District curriculum adoption.
- Set goals, evaluate progress toward those goals such as the Tigard-Tualatin 2020-21 Plan and Strategic Financial Plan.
- Ask voters to approve bond measures and local option levies.
- Advocate with the legislature on behalf of Tigard-Tualatin school children.
- Guide collective bargaining with TTSD employee groups.
