School Closure Information

The winter months bring with them the possibility of school closures or delayed openings due to severe weather conditions, power outages, or other unexpected events. With student safety leading these decisions, the district seeks the guidance of local meteorologists, city transportation officials, and the TTSD transportation and operations staff to inform delays or closures.

Understanding the disruption these closures and delays cause our families and staff, TTSD is committed to announcing changes to the school schedule as early as possible. If conditions are severe enough to threaten the safety of students traveling to and from school, a decision will be made the night before. Otherwise, decisions will be made by 6 a.m.

How we will notify you

Below are the ways that you can receive important information from the district:

  • Sign-up to receive text messages, Twitter or email school closure announcements at FlashAlert.net  
  • Confirm your contact information is up to date in your ParentVue account to receive district emails, texts, and phone calls
  • Download the ParentSquare mobile app on your cell phone in the Apple or Google Play Store 
  • We will post alerts on all of the TTSD websites

Instructions for Closure, Late Opening and Early Closure

  • School Closed: All schools will be closed for the day. Students and staff are to remain home. Emergency personnel will report to work.

    Two Hour Late Opening: All schools and bus times will begin two hours later than regular starting times. Bus times will be two hours later than the regular pick-up time.
    Elementary school            10:00 a.m.
    Middle school                     10:30 a.m., including late start Wednesday
    High school                        11:00 a.m.

    One Hour Late Opening: All schools and bus times will begin one hour later than the regular starting time.
    Elementary school              9:00 a.m.
    Middle school                      9:30 a.m.
    High school                          9:55 a.m.

    Two Hour Early Closure: All schools will dismiss two hours early and bus times will begin two hours earlier than regular dismissal times.

    One Hour Early Closure: All schools will dismiss one hour early and bus times will begin one hour earlier than regular dismissal times.
