T TTSD voters pass bond proposal, Measure 34-342
The latest vote counts Friday afternoon confirm that TTSD voters have passed the District’s bond proposal, Measure 34-342, with 52.7% voting in favor.
With 19,844 votes counted, the measure is ahead by 1,066 votes. Washington County has announced that valid mailed ballots will still be accepted until this coming Tuesday, May 27, but those are not expected to change the election result.
“This is a wonderful outcome for our students and the entire community,” said Tristan Irvin, Chair of the TTSD School Board. “We are deeply grateful to our voters for recognizing the need and stepping up to provide our students and teachers with the modern, safe, and supportive learning environments they deserve.”
TTSD Superintendent Dr. Iton Udosenata also thanked the community for recognizing that an investment in students pays decades of dividends, locally and beyond.
“This community has been incredibly supportive of students, and we’re so grateful,” he said.
It’s been nine years since District voters passed a bond. In that time, TTSD buildings have aged, and safety and security concerns have changed. Passing the new bond will allow TTSD to make critical building repairs and pay for curriculum and technology upgrades.
The District will proceed with bond sales in the coming months. Once bond proceeds are received, TTSD will begin detailed project planning and construction. The District will announce an opportunity for community members to apply for the Bond Oversight Committee, ensuring that bond funds are spent as voters approved.
The bond measure is estimated to increase current property tax rates by $0.99 per $1,000 of assessed value, which differs from real market value (Zillow, Redfin, etc.)
