Tarehna Wicker Named CFT Elementary's New Principal

Tigard, Oregon – Tigard-Tualatin School District (TTSD) Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lisa McCall announced Tarehna Wicker as the new Principal at CFT Elementary. Wicker will replace Principal Ryan Blasquez beginning July 1, 2022, when Blasquez transitions to his new role at the N.W. Regional ESD (NWESD).
“Tarehna brings proven experience in instructional design, building student-centered learning environments, and mentor-focused leadership,” said Dr. McCall. “Her dedication to partnering with staff and community to ensure the success of all students will seamlessly advance the work that Principal Blazquez has led. Our sincere thanks to Ryan for his exceptional service and leadership. We look forward to working with him in his new role at NWESD.”
“Tarehna is someone who works hard to cultivate strong relationships with students, staff, and families to ensure that each person feels valued and empowered,” said Nichole Berg, Wicker’s current supervisor at PPS. “She leads with integrity and wants school to be a place of joyful learning within a caring community.”
With over 13 years with Portland Public Schools, Wicker is currently the Assistant Principal at Lent School (K-5) and served as the assistant principal of Creative Science School (K-8). She served in PPS’s Office of Teaching and Learning and as a teacher at Vernon School (K-8).
“I am very excited to join the CFT community,” said Tarehna. “My thanks to the staff and community who identified me as their next principal. I am an avid believer in both service and improvement. I will work tirelessly to continue to improve my own educational practices as I dedicate my support to the growth and success of our students and staff.”
Tarehna earned her BA in History from Portland State University (PSU) and a MA in Teaching from the University of Phoenix. She received her Administrator Licensure from PSU.
Tarehna Wicker Nueva Directora de la Escuela Primaria CFT
Tigard, Oregón – La superintendente asistente del distrito escolar de Tigard-Tualatin (TTSD), Dra. Lisa McCall, anunció a Tarehna Wicker como la nueva directora de la escuela primaria CFT. Wicker reemplazará al director Ryan Blasquez a partir del 1 de julio de 2022, cuando Blasquez haga la transición a su nuevo rol en NW Regional ESD (NWESD).
“Tarehna aporta experiencia comprobada en diseño instructivo, creación de entornos de aprendizaje centrados en el estudiante y liderazgo centrado en el mentor”, dijo la Dra. McCall. “Su dedicación para asociarse con el personal y la comunidad para garantizar el éxito de todos los estudiantes impulsará sin problemas el trabajo que ha dirigido el director Blázquez. Nuestro más sincero agradecimiento a Ryan por su servicio y liderazgo excepcional. Esperamos trabajar con él en su nuevo rol en NWESD”.
“Tarehna es alguien que trabaja arduamente para cultivar relaciones sólidas con los estudiantes, el personal y las familias para garantizar que cada persona se sienta valorada y empoderada”, dijo Nichole Berg, supervisora actual de Wicker en PPS. “Ella lidera con integridad y quiere que la escuela sea un lugar de aprendizaje alegre dentro de una comunidad solidaria.”
Con más de 13 años en las Escuelas Públicas de Portland, Wicker es actualmente el subdirector de Lent School (K-5) y se desempeñó como subdirector de Creative Science School (K-8). Sirvió en la Oficina de Enseñanza y Aprendizaje de PPS y como maestra en la Escuela Vernon (K-8).
“Estoy muy emocionada de unirme a la comunidad CFT”, dijo Tarehna. “Mi agradecimiento al personal y la comunidad que me identificaron como su próxima directora. Soy una ávida creyente en el servicio como en la mejora. Trabajaré incansablemente para continuar mejorando mis propias prácticas educativas mientras dedico mi apoyo al crecimiento y éxito de nuestros estudiantes y personal”.
Tarehna obtuvo su licenciatura en Historia de la Universidad Estatal de Portland (PSU) y una maestría en Enseñanza de la Universidad de Phoenix. Recibió su licencia de administrador de PSU.
