McKinney-Vento

  • To counteract the educational disruption caused by mobility, the McKinney-Vento Act provides students experiencing homelessness with the right to continue attending the school of origin or enroll in any public school that non-homeless students who live in the same attendance area are eligible to attend, according to the student’s best interest.

Transportation services are provided to students qualifying for the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

    Please contact:
Heidi Reang, the TTSD McKinney-Vento Liaison at 503-431-4144 if you have a student you think qualifies.

Once Heidi submits the request to transportation, please allow 3 to 5 school days for transportation to begin. All new students start on Mondays or Thursdays. Requests received by Thursday afternoon or before, your student will start on Monday. For requests received by Tuesday afternoon or before, transportation will start on Thursday.

Your student’s bus driver will call a day in advance with the times and location pick-up and drop times.

It is very important that all students be on time and ready to board the bus at the scheduled time.

Please have your student at the stop 5 minutes prior to the scheduled stop time.
In order to get all students to school on time, the driver cannot wait longer than 1 minute after the designated pick-up time at each stop.

Please call 503-431-4044 by 6:00 AM if your student does not need school bus transportation that day.
